Two systems specialists configure and test business software at adjacent office workstations.

Laurie Holbrook / Founder

I managed the work. Then I built the systems behind it.

Strataflow joins two kinds of experience that are often separated: responsibility for people, programmes and commercial decisions, and the ability to build the operational systems the work depends on.

Why Strataflow

Most businesses have a habit problem before they have a technology problem.

The mess usually grows one sensible workaround at a time. A spreadsheet fixes today's problem. An inbox keeps one handoff moving. Then somebody goes on holiday and the team discovers that the process was living in their head.

I began in planning and progressed into responsibility for projects, field services, quality, forecasts and commercial decisions. That work taught me that a report has little value if nobody owns the decision it is meant to inform.

The next chapter moved from managing operational systems to building them. I redesigned GIS and data structures, then built systems for network operations, permits, workflow, stores, fleet, field evidence, reporting and accounts.

That is the basis of Strataflow. A useful system makes responsibility clear, keeps evidence with the decision and improves the result without asking the organisation to perform for the software.

Founder operating record

Judge experience by the responsibility it carried.

Director role

Responsibility grew with the work.

Progressed from planning to Director of Projects & Planning, carrying responsibility for programmes, teams, forecasts and commercial decisions.

Five portfolios

Delivery was tied to commercial control.

Connected scope, pricing, capacity, delivery evidence, invoicing and payment follow-up across five client portfolios. NEC4 administration formed part of one retained programme.

30 people

Specialisms were organised around the result.

Built and led a multidisciplinary telecoms function of 30 people, and coordinated the management controls behind ISO 9001 certification.

Operational estate

The control system followed the work.

Later built operational systems spanning network operations, permits, workflow, stores, fleet, field delivery, management reporting and accounts.

Public summary of privately retained, source-mapped records from prior roles. The director title was an operating role, not a statutory company appointment. Employer and client names are withheld. These are not Strataflow client outcomes.

Four operating principles

These are the bones of a system people can trust.

  • Immutable handoffs. Once work changes hands, the decision and its evidence remain traceable.
  • Clear ownership. At every live stage, one person owns the next action.
  • Zero duplication. Capture information once, connect systems carefully and stop rebuilding the same truth.
  • Relevant data. Ask for the evidence the next decision needs, not every field the software can hold.

You work with me from the first call.

I lead the diagnosis, shape the solution and stay responsible for delivery. If a specialist is needed, you will know who they are and why they are involved.
